Calling the future

Lilja Girgensohn

During these three days local artists, scientists and activists have gathered to engage in a critical discussion on imagining the otherwise by looking at the particular struggles and strategies at the present.

The Symposium has started with a presentation held by Chateau Lu collective, a student-run cafe in the university of arts Bremen. Dorsa Eidizadeh and Tabea Erhart two representatives gave a short introduction into the survival methods inside of the institution. Soon after the Zefak collective elaborated on the intention behind organizing the Symposium: making space, sharing resources, and activating discourse. the presentation has ended with a lecture-performance structured by the Manifesto. the evening has continued with a workshop held by Lilja Girgensohn, dealing with the inquiry on how to overcome the common narrative among leftist politics when it comes to engaging with the future. A game that everyone would discuss in detail if there is a transformative take on constructs like money, family, and school.

secound part

...a geophysicist working at Alfred Wagner institution speaking about the impact of the gas exploration in the region which causes earthquakes in the long run. Solidaritree then discussed with everyone the possibility of the emancipation of labor and their practice of shared economy which allows for fellow members in the collective to invest themselves fully on activism. Tiziana Ratcheva then unpacked the relationship between Property, as one of the first civil rights of liberal politics and understanding the (European) human rights subject as an autonomous individual. Horner Eeck, a bar collective from Bremen takes the program further and discussed how cooperatives could be a paving stone on the road to democratic socialism. on the third day, the program finishes by an engaging discussion initiated by Brun Morais a member of the Queeraspora evolving around the body, gender, identity, and communication from figures of the Brazilian queer scene recognizing and questioning the places of speech and the validation of the content produced in the peripheries of the system.
